Empowering migrants, refugees, and host communities to navigate migration systems, claim their rights, and participate in the decisions that shape their lives.
This programme addresses the governance and justice dimensions of migration by placing migrants, refugees, and host communities at the center of advocacy, protection, and reform. Through legal empowerment, civic education, policy engagement, and accountability mechanisms, Social Seed Uganda supports individuals affected by migration to understand their rights, access justice, and actively engage institutions that govern their lives. We believe that just migration systems are built not by governments alone, but through the voices and leadership of the communities most affected.
We reduce legal barriers and improve access to justice for migrants, refugees, and stateless persons by equipping them and host community members with legal knowledge, protection referral pathways, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms that are accessible, affordable, and community-rooted.
The programme promotes the meaningful inclusion of migrants and refugees in civic and governance processes. We engage communities in understanding their rights to participation, monitoring how migration policies are implemented, and holding duty bearers accountable for fair and humane treatment.
We strengthen the leadership of young migrants, refugees, and host community youth by equipping them with knowledge, platforms, and skills to influence migration governance, advocate for protection, and foster peaceful coexistence in displacement-affected communities.
The programme strengthens accountability in migration governance through evidence-based advocacy, community-led research, and policy engagement that amplifies the voices of those most affected by migration and displacement.
Migrants and refugees are leaders, not just survivors. Host communities are partners, not bystanders. By treating migration governance as a development issue, not just a security one, Social Seed Uganda builds systems where every person, regardless of origin or status, can live with dignity, access justice, and shape their own future.
